Young Leaders Program

Empowering Youth. Strengthening Canada–Africa Connections.

Investing in the Next Generation of Leaders

The Young Leaders Program is a youth leadership and mentorship initiative delivered to strengthen people-to-people connections between Canada and Africa, including Mauritius. The program equips young people in Canada with leadership skills, cross-cultural understanding, and opportunities for civic and community engagement — recognizing youth as key contributors to inclusive and sustainable international relationships.

We believe that strong international and multicultural relationships begin at the community level. By mentoring and empowering youth in Canada — particularly those from African, diaspora, and equity-deserving communities — we foster inclusive leadership and promote long-term social cohesion and global engagement.

  • Youth and young adults in Canada (ages 18–35)
  • Students, newcomers, young professionals and emerging leaders
  • Youth from African and Afro-descendant communities
  • Allies interested in global engagement and multicultural connection

What We Aim to Achieve

01

Leadership Capacity

Develop youth leadership capacity through mentorship and skills training, building the confidence and competence needed for civic and professional life.

02

Multiculturalism & Inclusion

Promote multiculturalism and social inclusion through education, dialogue and culturally responsive programming that reflects Canada's diversity.

03

Civic Engagement

Support civic and community engagement among young people in Canada, encouraging active participation in community life and democratic institutions.

04

People-to-People Ties

Strengthen Canada–Africa connections by reducing barriers to participation for equity-deserving and underrepresented youth.
